Engaged! | Virginia Engagement Photographer

It’s not often that I get to photograph engagements but when I do I really enjoy it. It’s a nice little breather from chasing around little kids and rocking babies to sleep. Today we met up in Old Town on what might be one of the coldest days we’ve had so far this winter but we got some awesome shots. D & B both went to the same college but didn’t meet and fall in love until afterwards. They might be one of the cutest couples I’ve ever seen and we had a lot of fun getting these shots.

A few favorites…

Are they not the cutest?!

The light this afternoon was gorgeous, I love how the warm evening light looks as it’s setting across the Potomac.

I’m pretty sure she’s begging him not to drop her here…

LOVE the color in this one.

And D you are a hot tamale! I love how you can see the Christmas lights in the background in this one.

Congratulations you guys, it was great seeing you today!!

Giving Is Awesome – Spread the Word!

I am sitting here on Thanksgiving morning feeling SO VERY thankful for all of the blessings in my life. I have a beautiful, healthy family, a roof over our heads, and good food to fill our bellies. In the spirit of the Holiday Season I want to give back. Premiere photographers from around the world donated over $565,000 worth of artwork in 2009, and expect to double that number in 2010. Little Moon Photography welcomes you to nominate a family who is incapable of paying for custom photography.

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $1,400 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free session, valued at $200! What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in within 40 miles of Ashburn, VA. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : by New Years Eve, December 31st 2009.

The winner will be announced on January 10, 2010! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Amber Scruggs – Little Moon Photography

Beautiful Bump | Alexandria Virginia Maternity Photographer

I LOVE maternity sessions. I love being able to get to know the parents before their baby arrives and I love capturing them one last time before they become a family of three. I also adore seeing the love between two people and the excitement of starting a new chapter in their lives.

These two are just that, so in love. Today we met up in Old Town, Alexandria and fought off a few rain showers to get these shots. They brought along their adorable dog and I had so much fun incorporating him into our shoot.

Here are just a few of many favorites from today!

D, you are a hot tamale, you are absolutely glowing! (Can you tell I watch So You Think You Can Dance?;-))

And LOVE this one, the colors and emotion both rock.

And adorable Toby behaving so nicely for the camera.

Congratulations you guys, it was so nice hanging out with you today and I can’t wait to meet the little one very soon.:-)

Charlottesville Sessions! | Virginia Baby Photographer

Today was a special day. Three of my favorite clients are all friends who met while in college at the University of Virginia. Back this summer, we were talking about fall sessions and how beautiful it is down in Charlottesville during this time of year so we made plans!

Now being that I’m a die hard Virginia Tech fan and graduated from there, UVA is definitely NOT my favorite school. I put the rivalry behind me and enjoyed the beauty of the grounds of their campus today while shooting these three beautiful families.

Here are just a few quick favorites from each session, I am not going to lie, I’m BEAT!

I met this first family back in March and I can’t believe how big the girls have gotten since then!

Love everything about this family shot. It was taken on The Lawn of UVA’s campus which is the center of the campus and holds a LOT of history.

Second we have sweet little G, I met him when he was only 5 days old back in January! So needless to say he has changed a TON and looks just like a little cabbage patch doll.

And finally Miss B, we just had her 6 month session back in July. I can’t believe how fast her first year is flying by!

UVA is steep with history and these columns along The Lawn are SO UVA.

And the fall color down there is just insanely gorgeous.

Day 7 | Virginia Newborn Photographer

Today I met sweet little A, he joins his big brother J and an awesome family. I got to see some photos of his big brother when he was a newborn and I have to say that little A is a spitting image of him except with a little more hair. And his hair, he has so much of it and it just spiked all over the place.

Some favs!

First, a HUUUUGE grin from Mister A. Love this shot.

It’s definitely a challenge photographing a newborn and a 20 month old together but I just love this shot.

At 7 days old he was pretty alert!

And the apple of Mommy & Daddy’s eyes.

T fam, you guys are fabulous, I can’t wait to show you the rest of the photos!!
