Memorial Day Weekend | Ashburn Virginia Newborn and Baby Photographer

I’m way behind on blogging but I wanted to share some snapshots I took of my kids this weekend. We spent the weekend at my Dad’s house on the Eastern Shore, Maryland. It was absolutely perfect and a much-needed little getaway. These are total snaps, not really edited and Reed is definitely wearing his pajamas in most of them, but I love them. I need to get better about sharing more photos of my boys on here, even if they are not perfect portraits.:-)

Hope you all had a great long weekend and thank you to all of you who serve our country to make it a better place.

This & That | Virginia Newborn Photography

It’s been a crazy few weeks here! The studio has been very busy, I’ve been shooting 4 or 5 sessions a week for the past month and while the blog is a little behind, I have been really good about posting photos over on my Facebook page so make sure you head on over there and like me.

I’m hoping to caught up on the blog but will probably be blogging a few of the older sessions in a week or so since the clients already have their galleries and I think it will be fun to blog the images they love the most instead of what I usually pick.

On the personal front, things are just insane. We close on our new home (just a few miles away from our current home but with more space and a big yard) in just two weeks and have done zero packing so far so needless to say, we will be busy. The kids are doing so great at their new school that we switched over to a few weeks ago in anticipation of the move. I was nervous about the transition but Carter (and Reed) is doing better than I ever could have expected. I’ve been on a fitness/health kick since December and have been working out 6 days a week, it’s been intense but so much fun and I’m loving the results.

If you have an Iphone you have to download Instagram, it’s all I use these days to take my daily photos. Instagram is a free download that takes your boring smart phone photos and makes them a little more artsy and fun.

Since I’m plugging it, I might as well share a little of what we have been up to in the past few weeks via Instagram, I am hoping to do this every few weeks so you can get a peek at our lives outside the studio.:-)

Happy Friday Friends! Stay tuned, I have a few adorable babies I’ll be sharing tonight & tomorrow!

Be Mine | Virginia Newborn Photographer

Okay, it’s been like a bazillion years since I’ve shared images of my own boys on the blog. The truth is, I’ve been so busy with clients that I haven’t had time to. This week has been kind of crazy, Reed had pinkeye and got tubes put in his ears. He’s doing great now but it’s been stressful on Mama.

Last weekend I took the kids up the the studio to grab a few Valentines photos. The tides have turned and Reed is the hard one to photograph while his brother loves to mug for the camera.

These little men just full me with so much joy & love.

XOXOXOXO

ONE | Virginia Baby Photographer to Ashburn, Virginia

Reed Wilson,

Today you turn ONE YEAR OLD! I literally feel like I took this photo of you in the hospital yesterday.

This time around I made it a point to enjoy every single second of your first weeks and months, I might have sniffed your sweet baby head a few more times than is normal, but it still wasn’t enough. I wish I could have bottled up that scent, I’m sure there’s a market for that somewhere. I soaked in every second of your babyhood and it still went too fast. Those sweet squeaks you made when you were first born turned into adorable coos, which turned into giggles, babble and now words.

You have GROWN so much in one short year! This 2nd time around I’ve been so much more aware at how fast these babies grow, I see it every single day in the studio. I’m so glad I have this series of photos to document this change.

You have also sprouted an adorable halo of curls, it’s usually a mess but you are a crazy little kid so it’s fitting.

You give the best open mouth kisses and hugs and while getting a face full of drool isn’t necessarily sanitary, I savor those sweet kisses. You’ve also finally sprouted two teeth! It took 11.5 months for you to get a tooth but you did so without even getting cranky, you are a tough kid.

Reed you are such a good eater, I don’t think there is one thing I have put in front of you that you didn’t eat. I can’t wait for you to have your first taste of cake on Saturday, I have a feeling you are going to like it, by looking at your belly you certainly don’t miss any meals.

I am pretty sure I will be rocking you to sleep until you leave for college, but I don’t mind one bit. It’s the one chance I have in my day to focus on you and cuddle you until you fall asleep. I love how you reach up and grab my arm as you are falling asleep.

You have no fear and love to explore and get into everything. Baby proofing has taken on a new meaning with you, Carter was definitely not as curious as you are, son. You are SO close to walking, you take 4 or 5 steps unassisted and then get down and crawl. I think you will be there soon and then we will really have to watch out.

You are a laid back baby, we can skip naps, lay you down later, and go anywhere with you, you are always happy to go along for the ride. You let us know when you are tired, I think that is really the only time you cry or get fussy.

You love your brother, and your brother loves you. You two already have such an amazing relationship and i can’t wait to watch it grow. You adore going for wagon rides while Carter rides his bike. I can tell you can’t wait to be able to run around and chase him or ride your bike alongside him.

Even though I might be a little sad you are turning one and no longer a “baby”, I look forward to tomorrow and the day after because I fall in love with you (and your brother) more and more with each passing day. I can say with a full heart that I enjoyed and relished every single day of your first year and can’t wait to see what the next year brings!

Love,
Mom

I don’t even want to talk about it.

The curls are everywhere now, he’s working a little Trump combover fro now.

He’ll be turning one in less than a month now (I’m a little behind here, lol) and I’m sitting here wondering how this all went by so fast. As sad as I am to see his babyhood come to a close, I’m loving this age so much. He has such a cute little personality and is already starting to show his independence. He’s all over the place, curious and into everything. Sitting still for these photos was not on his agenda.

He’s cruising, walking behind a toy pushing it and has taken a few steps independently but as soon as he realizes he’s standing unsupported he gets down and crawls. Little booger.

Amazingly, he still has NO TEETH. I can feel two about to pop through so I’m guessing any day now. He might be the latest teether ever.

He’s such a happy boy and is always full of smiles and giggles unless he’s tired or hungry.

He loves to give kisses and hugs, waves bye-bye, claps and does “SO BIG” with his arms. When he smiles he scrunches up his nose, that’s about the only thing I think he got from me.

I could nibble on his chunky legs all day, every day. Such a little man.

The best part of this month has been watching him and his brother bond and play together. Carter has always liked his brother but now I can say he really loves his brother and Reed worships him back. Carter will just pick reed up and carry him around the house, probably not the safest but it’s funny to watch. They also like to roll around on the ground and wrestle, I predict a lot more of this in my future.

When I told Carter I was going to take some pictures he insisted on being first and wanted to be photographed with his beloved Buzz Lightyear lunch box.

Such a sweet boy.

Love all of the men (big and small) in my life, I’m truly blessed to have healthy, happy children.:-)
