Sisters | Alexandria Virginia Child Photographer

These two sisters reminded me how much I love having sisters in my life. They were so well behaved and sweet even though it was a little chilly outside. We met up in Old Town, Alexandria for these beautiful photos.

A few favorites!

Day 21 – Round Two | Virginia Newborn Photographer

Remember this adorable little girl from a week ago? Today was Round Two of our session I was victorious. We were a little nervous that she wouldn’t sleep but she proved that even at 3 weeks old, she was a little newborn photography model. It just shows that these sessions take a lot of patience and persistence.

On to some favorites!

I adore the soft and creamy tones in this one.

Here’s Miss K, just hangin around. ;-)

She fell right asleep in her Daddy’s arms.

Love her looking right at the camera here, this was taken about 1 minute before she conked out.

Giving Is Awesome – Spread the Word!

I am sitting here on Thanksgiving morning feeling SO VERY thankful for all of the blessings in my life. I have a beautiful, healthy family, a roof over our heads, and good food to fill our bellies. In the spirit of the Holiday Season I want to give back. Premiere photographers from around the world donated over $565,000 worth of artwork in 2009, and expect to double that number in 2010. Little Moon Photography welcomes you to nominate a family who is incapable of paying for custom photography.

givingisawesome900x100

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $1,400 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free session, valued at $200! What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in within 40 miles of Ashburn, VA. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : amber@littlemoonphotography.com by New Years Eve, December 31st 2009.

The winner will be announced on January 10, 2010! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Amber Scruggs – Little Moon Photography

6 Days and Needs MORE Cowbell | Alexandria Newborn Photographer

Today I got to meet this sweet little girl on her 6th day of life. She was a perfect little model and I had a blast getting these photos.

Mom picked up this eggplant hat from a seller down in New Orleans. She knits these hats and the proceeds go to teeny tiny little babies in the NICU. Love her little piggies sticking up back there!

These macro shots always end up as my favorites, I love her little lips and eyelashes here.

You know the baby is passed out when their mouth is hanging open, lol.

And Mom & Dad are SO head over heels for their baby. I love this shot because they were just looking at E when she busted out a HUGE smile. I was thrilled to capture this:

And what EVERY newborn session needs is MORE COWBELL! Mom & Dad both went to Mississippi State University and are fanatic fans (well Dad is…) of the bulldogs. Apparently the “thing” down there is the cowbell. When Dad busted this thing out and said he’s like to incorporate it into our session somehow I kind of chuckled and thought to myself that this HAS to be the oddest item I’ve used in a photo shoot but hey, who doesn’t love a little more cowbell. ;-)

F family, you guys are awesome, I really enjoyed spending the day with you today! :-)

Coming up for air! | Virginia Newborn Photographer

Did you guys know I have shot 34 sessions since October 1st? That is INSANE but it’s been a lot of fun. I have a few more weeks of craziness and it should go back to normal and my son will finally start to see my face and not my macbook in my face. ;-)

Just a quick note, I am completely booked for 2009 but am booking sessions for January and February 2010, both months are booking up fast so if you are due to give birth in those months contact me NOW, I have been getting a lot of inquiries for newborn sessions after the baby is born and by that point I am already booked up. These sessions are VERY time sensitive and you want to do them within the first week of the baby’s life.

BTW, I promise to do another FAQ post just as soon as things slow down. If you have a question for me you can still email it to amber@littlemoonphotography.com.

You know what’s awesome about 2 year olds? Their imagination. I love how I can take a big box (I get LOTS and LOTS of boxes delivered here daily, lol) and turn it into a boat.
415

The SS Carter has been a big hit around here lately.
315

BTW, how huge is he? He looks like he could be 4, sign him up for football now.
untitled-115

But no, he’s 2 and with that comes lots of 2 year old attitude.
215

Love him. :-)
