Little Posers | Newborn Photography Workshop

Yesterday I travelled up to Philadelphia to teach a Newborn Workshop. I got to meet 6 amazing & fun photographers and had two of the most adorable litle models who let us pose and play for hours. While it was a long and exhausting day, it was so worth it to watch other photographers “see the light” as far as newborn posing and lighting goes. I have to give a big thank you to Jamie Siever of Jamie Siever Photography for being a wonderful host, I have “known” Jamie for many years and it was so nice to finally meet her, and all of the other ladies, in person.

On to the photos!

First we have adorable 3 day old K, she was actually supposed to be a St. Patricks Day baby but ended up being born on Friday making her the youngest baby (besides my own) that I’ve photographed. She was so sleepy and such a great model for us!

Look at those lips!!

And here is 11 day old W who was so alert for us!

But gave us some awesome sleep to get in a few poses. :-)

Isn’t he just perfect?

Thank you to our adorable little models for making this workshop a sucess!!

Note to photographers: I will be offering my Little Posers Newborn Workshop in the future but am up in the air on dates right now as I’m super busy with my photography clients. I will announce them here on the blog and Facebook page as soon as I get it figured out.

Six Months of Sweetness | Fairfax Virginia Baby Photographer

I was SO excited to meet this little lady today. I photographed her big brother at this same age almost exactly 2 years ago! Little Miss L is such a sweet and laid back little baby, I adored taking her 6 month photos today and loved seeing H all grown up.

Look at those rolls! LOVE.

Adorable big brother.

Her nursery is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen, grey & yellow with ruffle curtains. Made me want a girl.

Mom & Dad have a canvas of a shot just like this of H so I wanted to try and do the same for Miss L.

S family, it was so great seeing you all again!

Jake – Day 16 | Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer

Today I got to snuggle & photograph sweet 16 day old Jake. His Mom was a little worried because she says he’s a light sleeper, but he was fabulous for us today and was putty in my hands. He joins two big sisters, who I can’t wait to meet next week to get some sibling shots, and a loving family.

Look how cute he is with that adorable smile!

I believe this was shot at f/1.2 on my 50L, I adore that lens and how dreamy things look wide open.

Congratulations S family!!!

7 Days Old | Reston Virginia Newborn Photographer

This little sweetie is the baby sister of Mr. Mohawk, who I photographed a year and a half ago as a newborn. He was also the winner of my nursery contest. Little Sienna was such a great little model today, only waking up at the end of the session.

I adore all of the newborn wrinkles & folds.

I think she looks so much like her big brother.

Is he not the cutest little boy ever?

My new favorite photo.

Congratulations T family, you make gorgeous kids!!

5 | Ashburn Baby Photographer

My sweet little Reed turned 5 months old yesterday. I’ve been dealing with a kidney stone (don’t wish this pain upon anyone) so it’s been a rough few days but I had to do his monthly shots.

I wish I had video to go with the photo above, he’s almost always squawking with glee and it sounds like a mix between a dinosaur and a dying bird.

This has been such a fun month, he’s rolling from back to tummy and tummy to back all the time now and is grabbing anything and everything to shove in his mouth. I would guess he’s starting to teethe. He got his first bad cold this month and weighed in at 17 pounds at the doctors office. You would have never known he was sick though, still a super happy guy. He did stop sleeping through the night and now that he’s better I’m hoping he will start doing that again, I think we got spoiled!

He loves to be naked and diaper changes. Any time he is cranky all I have to do is strip him down and he’s back to his happy self.

I could nibble on his chubby legs and belly all day & night. He’s still nursing strong and we were given the go ahead to start solids now though I’m probably going to wait a few weeks so he’s closer to 6 months, he seems to be doing great on breastmilk alone.

He loves his feet and wants nothing more than to shove them in his mouth.

He’s gotten much better at doing tummy time but he’d much rather be sitting, he can sit unassisted in a tripod position for about 30 seconds until he topples, I’m guessing he’ll be sitting great by 6 months or so.

He worships his big brother and my heart explodes with love when I see the two of them together.

He’s changed SO much in just a month, here’s the progression so far!

I can’t believe he’s 5 months already, I know I say it every month but I wish I could pause time, this age is so much fun!

Stay tuned, I have a TON of newborns this week. :-)
